Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday January 5th, 2014


The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:02 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. – President: Dave Gilmour


Attendance (19 members): Bernice Langley, Cindy Thomas, Dave & Patti Gilmour, Doris Avery, Francine Gillanders, Jenny & Michael Catton, Karen Parton, Kim Long, Kirstan O'Brien, Lee and Mary Jane Nowak, Len & Irene Waddell, Paul and Judy Wilcox, Sandra Beck, Tammy Ranta

 Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.

Dave: Everyone should have had a chance a chance to read last month's minutes. Are there any errors or omissions?

Treasurer’s Report – Kim Long

  • Kim: 12-31-2014 - Balance 11,455.59
    • Debits - Monthly Service Charge - $19.00 ($17.00 Monthly Plan Fee, $2.00 Paper Statement Fee,
      • Mary Curl - $388.10 ( Prepaid Visa - $105.95, Prepaid Mastercard - $207.85, External Hard Drive - $74.30)
    • Credits - Membership Renewals - $765.00,
      • $9.35 US exchange,
      • Trophy Fund - $140.00
    • Balance - $11,962.84
  • Kim moved her report,     
  • Dave: Thanks Kim are there any questions in regards to the report
    • K.C.: Why does the club pay for paper statements when they could be printed out?  I know it's not much money, but it's still a savings.
      • Kim: This account was just set up and that is their fee and right now until things are settled I prefer the statement.
    • Sandra: I don't see a debit for the accounting program Kim wanted, is that still in the works?
      • Yes it is still in the works...I have had two major floods in my home and have been really busy with cleaning up and contractors but I will get in to get it shortly.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Show Committee 

  • Dave: As of yet we don't have a show secretary for this year’s show. We had contacted Deb Graffman but have not heard back. I will contact Deb directly

 

Publicity: Rich Tarrington – No Report – not in attendance
Trophy Committee: Anne Not in attendance – No report
Membership: Patti Gilmour

  • Patti: An application from Kim Smith was received and her sponsors Karen Knox and MaryJane Werleman have been contacted. Any comments / feedback concerning Kim's application should be sent to me prior to the Feb meeting which is when Kim becomes a probationary member.    
  • Membership renewals are due.

Programme Committee: Lillian – not in attendance – sent report

  • Program -- posted a video to BCC list that was posted by Dan B to the boxer list on Cachet -- I think the younger members of our club should watch this video. Cachet was handled by Chic C. and they made a wonderful team to watch... I was lucky enough to see her in the classes, and to see her as a special many times.

Discipline Committee: 

  • Jenny: Discipline  report - no cases therefore no report

Obedience Committee:  Marta Nettelfield  - Not in attendance - No Report

Fund Raising Committee: - Patti – No report.

Awards Committee: Kristi Wagg – No Report  Not in attendance

 

Reading of General Correspondence:  Cindy Thomas

  • Cindy: Just a note that there was an application received from the Manitoba Boxer Club at the last meeting and I received no other applications.
    • Jenny: wrt the requirement now for a certain number of meetings attended before a reg or nat spec can be applied for has whomever applied from Manitoba BC met the criteria?
    • Cindy: Not sure Jenny. Will have to look into it further.

 

Special Service Committee: Deb Allardyce – No report - Not in attendance

 

Good & Welfare: Lillian – Not in attendance – report sent

  • Unable to send a sympathy card to Ben D's family as had not address for his son.   
  • Sent a get well card to Norrette Herd as she had her right leg amputated below the knee 

 

Old Business:  

  • Dave: Reminder -  IMPORTANT -Any members who wish to apply for a Regional Specialty in 2015 and want sponsorship from Royal Canin need to get their applications in to Cindy ASAP.  Royal Canin now has a policy that sponsorship from National Clubs must be submitted online in January or early Feb 
  • Dave: Western Canada Boxer Club to hold the 2016 BCC National Specialty on March 26, 2016. Whoever wants to hold the 2017 National needs to get their app in soon.
    • From the National app The application must be received by the BCCI Correspondence Secretary by the end of February, two full years in advance of the show date being requested (i.e. February 28, 2004 for the 2006 show). All applications received by the BCCI will be held until the end of February when a decision will be made.
